Outland Family History

GENERATION #1

Cornelius Oudelant, was born in 1630 in Oudekerk, Holland. Before 1650, he married Elizabeth Wallis. Elizabeth was born in about 1630 and died 1672, in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. Cornelius died on October 26, 1666 in Nasemond County, Virginia.

During their marriage, they had the following children: Maria 1650-?, Cornelius 1652-1676, and *William M. 1655-1687.

GENERATION #2

*William M. Oudelant, was born in 1655 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. On July 15, 1678 in Chuckatuch, Virginia, he married Christian Taberer. Christian was born September 1, 1661.

William died in 1687 in County of Isle of Wight, Virginia. Christian died in 1689.

Their marriage was blessed by these children: Cornelius 1681-1681, *William II 1682-1732, and Thomas 1684-?.

GENERATION #3

*William Outland II, was born November 6, 1682 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. Before 1719, he married Jane Exum. Jane was born in 1689.

William and Jane were Quakers. Their marriage was performed at Chuckatuch, Isle of Wight County, Virginia at the Pagen Creek Monthly Meeting. William also owned 400 acres of land in Nasemond County, Virginia. It is believed that William and Jane both died in the same year, 1672.

During their marriage, they had eight children: *William III 1719-1770, Joseph 1722-?, Thomas 1724-1776, Christian 1724-?, Mary 1727-?, Edmund 1730-?, Richard Exum 1732-?, John about 1732-?.

GENERATION #4

*William Outland III, was born in Isle of Wight County, Virginia in 1719. On December 4, 1741, he married Rachel White, at the Chuckatuch, Pagen Creek Monthly Meeting. Rachel was born in 1720 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. She was the daughter of John and Sara Cleare White.

William died in 1770. Rachel's date of death is unknown.

During their marriage they had these children: Jeremiah 1742-1824, *Thomas 1744-1821, and Josiah 1743-1830.

GENERATION #5

*Thomas Outland, was born on July 3, 1744 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. On January 21, 1781 in North Hampton County, North Carolina, he married Abigail Dougherty.

Thomas died in 1821 in North Hampton County, North Carolina.

To this marriage were born the following children: Daughter 1781-?, *Enos 1784-1835, Joab 1790-1834, Josiah 1792-1834, and Abigail 1815-?.

GENERATION #6

*Enos Outland, was born in 1784 in North Carolina. In about 1803 in North Hampton County, North Carolina, he married Rhoda Futrell. Rhoda was born between 1780-1790 and was the daughter of Joel Futrell.

In March 1813, both Enos and Josiah Outland paid homestead fees on two parcels of land in the Crockett's Creek area.

Enos died in 1835 in Stewart County, Tennessee. Rhoda died between 1830-1835.

To this marriage were born: Mary 1805-after 1880, *Joel 1807-1859, Abigail 1810-1873, Elizabeth 1810-1878, William 1815-?, Amy 1820-1854, Samuel 1821-?, and Lemuel 1822-? (Samuel and Lemuel may be the same person).

GENERATION #7

*Joel Outland, was born February 24, 1807 in Christian County, Kentucky. On April 20, 1839 in Stewart County, Tennessee, he married Harriet Shaw. Harriet was born December 28, 1816 in Kentucky, to David G. and Elizabeth Shaw.

Joel died in 1859 in Stewart County, when he hit his foot with an axe and bled to death. Harriet died after 1860.

Joel and Harriet had ten children: Mary 1840-?, Enos 1842-?, Daniel C. 1845-?, John H. 1846-?, *William Elbert 1849-1925, Samuel Ross 1851-1925, Lemuel J. 1853-1933, Rhoda P. 1856-?, Sarah 1857-?, Abby Joann 1859-?.

GENERATION #8

*William Elbert Outland, born October 30, 1849 and died April 14, 1925. On November 13, 1872 in Stewart County, Tennessee, he married Frances Josephine Futrell. Frances 'Frankie' was born November 13, 1854 and died December 2, 1928. They were both very active in the Crockett's Creek Baptist Church. They are both buried in the Outland Family Cemetery in Land Between the Lakes.

They had the following children: William Ross 1875-1937, Alex Dosey 1877-1954, Zilpha E. 1882-1914, Joe 1885-1965, *Harriet Ruth 1891-1960, Beedie 1893-1977, Jordan Henry 1896-1970, and Bessie 1898-?.
